Getting to know the primitive brain

- Do you know what your brain's primary focus is? Survival. Think of your brain like a radio tower but instead of scanning for aircraft and weather formations, it's scanning for threats to your safety. It's constantly asking, am I safe? And then responding to what it believes to be the answer. When something hits your senses and is perceived as a threat, your body changes its physiology to respond to that threat. Which is great if a car is speeding toward you and your body diverts its resources to instinctively make you jump out of the way; but it's not so great when your brain perceives feedback as a threat and shuts down your rational thinking.
