How to approach this question

- Expect to be asked this question because it's attempting to evaluate a person's a real character. Unfortunately, many get thrown off or flustered when asked this question. The only thing you need to do is to be honest and authentic in your response. Answer this question by first taking responsibility. Acknowledge that you've made mistakes and show that you're not afraid to do so. This demonstrates your professionalism and willingness to take responsibility for your actions. Then make sure you highlight key learnings. Walk the interviewer through how you handled a mistake and the steps you took to resolve it. Make sure to highlight what you learned and how you avoided repeating it. I know you want to show off your accounting skills, but try to show off your human side, too. What I mean is express that you're not afraid to admit you'll make mistakes, but that you'll also be the first to correct them. This answer shows the interviewer that you're not trying to be a super accountant. It shines a light on your professionalism and integrity.
