- While not much is known about how clandestine intelligence organizations operate, we do know they typically have elaborate intelligence collection activities that are kept separate from those doing the analysis. They want data collection that leads to unbiased analysis, followed by logical decision-making, which then brings about action. Their ability to stay objective as they collect and analyze data is a matter of life and death. Now, product strategy development may not save lives, but it does follow a similar approach. For us the parallel would be, collect inputs from stakeholders and other sources, organize them to shed light on the nature of the opportunity, make specific strategic choices, and then execute the plan. So begin by interviewing your key stakeholders. Ask them how they see the direction of the industry. What are some unmet customer needs? What would they do to grow the business? And so on. You…
