- I was recently speaking to a large leadership group at a Fortune 50 company. We were discussing how to give feedback to encourage someone to develop. I felt the energy in the room shift and I wondered what was not being said. One woman finally spoke up and she said, "What about giving feedback to someone "in management above you like your own leader? "And how do you do that when they're not open to it?" I saw a lot of heads nod. This is not an uncommon problem and it's a missed opportunity for the leaders who give their people the perception they're not open to feedback. In this lesson, I'd like to share with you a couple of tips to help you become a more open leader. First, recognize that feedback is critical to your development.
