- If you're leading a team or managing a project, you have lots of conversations. But there's something about those conversations you might not have noticed. Many of them are about how. You're having conversations like this, "Here's how to make a sales presentation. Here's how to deal with that customer. Here's how to talk to that vendor." And we're giving short shrift to why. We're not having enough why conversations. And what we know is that why is an enormously powerful performance enhancer because we know that human beings are deeply motivated by a sense of purpose. So how do you put this idea into action? Here's my suggestion. This week, have two fewer conversations about how and two more about why. Here's what this looks like in action.
