Infusing accountability into your culture

- Accountability is defined as the act of being accountable or subject to giving an answer for something. Simple enough, right? Unfortunately, lack of accountability is the number one source of chaos I see in organizations. And to cut right to it, it starts right at the top with the CEO. This may not mean that the CEO or leader themself is not accountable. Sometimes that may be the case, but it could also mean that they are uncomfortable holding others to account. So why does this happen so often? There are actually numerous reasons for a lack of accountability starting from the top. These are internal triggers from the leader themselves that tell them they don't really have the authority to hold others accountable, or a lack of desire to do the hard work and have the difficult conversations or hold others accountable to not following through with the rules.
