Intent vs. impact

- I had a regional manager once who had it in his head that he was the nicest guy but everyone that met him disagreed. He just wasn't very nice. So my question for you is if someone thinks they're really nice but everyone that meets them thinks otherwise which are they? Well, perception is reality. So obviously they aren't very nice. Now I've seen the opposite be true as well. One of my really good friends sees himself as this old curmudgeon but everyone that meets him thinks he's the sweetest guy in the world. So regardless of what he thinks, he's obviously a sweet guy. When trying to understand ourselves or others in terms of relationships, impact always outweighs intent. Let that sink in, impact outweighs intent. I want to help you see the difference between intent and impact so that your true intentions are reflected in your actions and your relationships.
