It's time to get creative
- One important factor that makes our teams truly gritty and resilient is the fire in the belly when they innovate and find a better way to the finish line. And my friend, Steve Gurney, the most innovative guy on our team was kind of like the OG of what we call industry disruption, you know continuous improvement or operating in the white space. I mean, every race, Steve would do what we all did which is look at what was in the rules. But more importantly, Steve would have a lot of deep thoughts about what wasn't in the rules and I swear he came up with something more creative and brilliant every race. Steve started thinking about the resources that we had in the next transition and what it was really going to take to win. And when we got to the next transition area the race director took away each team's whitewater raft and handed each of us to inflatable canoes. So our competitors grabbed their canoe paddles…
