- When you want to know exactly what your customers are thinking? A well crafted survey can get you this data. But let me give you a warning, in order to get the right psychographic data, you need to ask the right questions. First, you need to look inward to identify key features about your product or service. Think about what need you're serving in the Marketplace. What are the major problems that your product or service solves? Once you've identified this, then you can break out your offering into key features. For example, a medical device solves a specific health problem, but can be broken down into ease of use, portability, user interface and the ability to access the underlying data. Second, you need to look outward to identify the key features of your ideal customer. This could be their age, gender or location.
