- So here are some things you probably wouldn't do. Walk in to a grocery store, asking to buy running shoes. How about going into Best Buy, looking for a new car? It sounds crazy here, but it's not that different from pitching an investor who focuses solely on enterprise software companies when you're building the next Birchbox. And believe it or not, people sometimes think that an investor is an investor, but we do specialize. If your Birchbox and consumer beauty products are your business, you probably will want to find an investor who has experience and passion for consumer products and brands. My point is that every firm and investor is different, and we tend to invest in different areas. We call this our thesis. At BlueRun Ventures, we focus on consumer mobile companies and real-time data systems. We might look over the fence at some financial technologies when our passions align, but we focus primarily on the future…
