Laying common ground

- Laying common ground is establishing connections with others based on a shared interest or task. It is foundational to effective collaboration. You have a choice. Every day in every relationship, you're either building bridges or barriers. A bridge connects two separate shores. A bridge in a relationship connects two people around a common interest. In contrast, a barrier reinforces separation and isolation. For interpersonal effectiveness, remember that successful connecting with others involves taking the effort to notice other people's needs, interests and efforts. Be aware of cues they send. Be willing to listen to what they have to say and seek to build a bridge. In this video, I will share with you three ways to establish common ground with others. First, get over yourself.
