- The concept of leading yourself may sound like it throws a giant wrench in the org chart, but it doesn't have to. You can lead yourself and still respect your organizational hierarchy. You just need to know how to manage your conversations with your superiors, peers, and subordinates. Here are some tips. When you're talking to your superiors, don't make it all about yourself. Starting to lead yourself can be exciting, and you may feel the urge to go over every detail and strategy with your boss or other organizational leaders. Resist the urge. You will be more successful if you drop in specific habits that have been helpful to you.
