- Did you know you can have a dramatic impact on engagement by being present with an employee for only five minutes? That's right, only five minutes. Yes, I know, you're running 75 miles an hour, trying to get it all done, to support your team, and to help everyone be successful, and that's exactly why five minutes can have a huge impact. Your presence is one of the greatest gifts you can give an employee or a team member, just being there. If you make it a point to be fully present with an employee for five minutes, it will make them feel very special. How can you be effective in just five minutes? You can listen. What can you listen to an employee talk about for five minutes? Their goals, aspiration, challenges, and anything else on their mind. Ask a simple question like, "How are you doing?"
