Lessons in enlightened leadership with Carolyn Everson

(lively music) - I'm Carolyn Everson and I am the Vice-President of Global Marketing Solutions for Facebook, and I am joining you today from our New York offices and I am talking about a wide range of topics, the difference between effective and enlightened leadership. I'm talking about women's leadership, the importance of team building, the importance of qualities in a leader, a bit about our Facebook culture, and hopefully some lessons that I've learned throughout my career. An enlightened leader brings their humanity to what they do. They make decisions based on what's right for people and the betterment of people in society, as opposed to just trying to get a task done. You'll start to realize that you're grateful for all sorts of things. You're grateful to actually be able to wake up and see the sunrise. You're grateful for your health, perhaps. You're grateful for your friends and family, for the job you have, for the day you had, for a meeting you were able to contribute to, whatever it may be. But really understanding what you're grateful for and having that in the back of your mind will actually make you a much happier person. And so I would just encourage you to think about a way to put that into practice.
