Managing the rate of communication comes down to two things; setting expectations and controlling the frequency of response. Let's imagine you need to speed things up. Perhaps you're working on an urgent project, and you're fast approaching a deadline. Take just a few minutes to set expectations for response rates with your team members. In a conversation or email, you might say, "We've got a deadline approaching on Tuesday. "So I think we should be more responsive to email "for the next few days. "What if we check email once every two hours "and get back to each other whenever we see a message?" Whatever expectation you agree to, live it.
