Modes of persuasion
(Upbeat music) - Hey there, welcome back. In this module, we're going to get a little philosophical, but don't worry. The information is highly relevant to those of us attempting to build a culture of kaizen. Well specifically be the end of this module, you'll understand the three tools of rhetoric, ethos, logos and pathos, and you'll also understand how to leverage these three concepts to improve the way you communicate and attempt to positively influence those you come into contact with. Now as you may recall from your school days, rhetoric is the art of speaking and writing effectively, and as it turns out, it actually plays an important role for those of us attempting to create cultures of kaizen. But in order to understand how this is, we need to reflect on the teachings of one of the greatest philosophers of our time, Aristotle. Now Aristotle first wrote about ethos, logos and pathos more than two millennia ago.…
