- What's motivates you to reach your goals? Is it achieving what you set out to do? Is it a financial reward? Is it praise? Is it working towards something that's important to you? Psychological research tells us motivation is personal and different for all of us, but you may be surprised to learn how often people aren't entirely clear on what motivates them and what it is that keeps them moving forward. At the highest level, there are two kinds of motivators, those that are external to you, and those that are internal. Let's take a look at external motivators.
