- A lot of people talk about climbing the corporate ladder, but very often it looks more like corporate shoots and ladders because people go up here and then they move over here and then they come back again and there's sort of a boomerang, right? This happens because oftentimes, companies won't necessarily promote people internally as quickly as they could if they're hiring externals. The reason for this is simple, they have people in a certain structure and even if people are highly talented, they need a reason to have them leapfrog over people.
