Multitasking
- So I know you've been told time and time again that you can't multitask. I'm here to tell you that's not exactly true. In fact, you can multitask. What you can't do very well is task switching. Task switching is when we go from one activity to the next to the next. That causes us to degrade concentration. And there's a period of time where we're not as productive as we would be if we just plowed through one task at a time. Multitasking is something else. In fact, you can multitask. And in fact, you can use multitasking to get more done. This is a technique called temptation bundling. And what we find is, when we take something we want to do, something that's a reward in one context, and we couple it with something that we don't really want to do, we can actually increase our motivation to do that behavior we didn't really wanna do.
