- When we lead global teams, the complexity of our operating environment increases. We're working across multiple countries with different ways of working, legislation, and business objectives. In my book, "Making the Matrix Work," I focus on practical ways to manage multiple competing goals, such as global and local objectives, often in some kind of matrix organization structure. Here are three principles on how to navigate this complexity successfully. The first is to focus on the benefits. Global teams are great for running global projects, serving global customers, and operating more integrated business processes that cut across geography. From an individual perspective, global teams also provide fantastic learning experiences, increase engagement, and enable people to develop new and broader skills and capabilities.
