- The first thing if you've got a colleague who's not doing their share of the work or who is letting you down in some way is to decide that you're going to negotiate with them. You're going to tackle them and say something. And I think particularly in England, we quite often just don't do anything and we put up with stuff. But if you don't ask, you don't get, so you have to say something or the situation's never going to improve. So thinking about my instead of yes or no idea, it must be better to negotiate rather than to just put up with it. That's the yes, isn't it? Putting up with it and quietly hating them and performing worse yourself, of course. So if you don't do anything, that's going to be bad. The other option is to have a big row with them and accuse them of being useless. That's not going to help either.
