- Two simple ways to solidify your partnership with hiring managers is to master your ability to effectively pre-close and negotiate. These abilities eliminate confusion until you successfully fill the requisitions. My definition of a pre-close is anticipating what might happen before it happens, so that when it happens, you're prepared. Priorities can change throughout the interviewing process. Pre-closing guarantees you continue to understand your hiring managers preferences, so you could present candidates they will hire without hesitation. Pre-closing starts with your initial conversation and continues until after your candidate is hired to make sure your hiring manager is satisfied with their performance. For example, your hiring manager may say, "I want to hire someone who can work independently and needs little or no supervision." My pre-close would be, "So you're asking me to recruit somebody who can work…
