Offer to help groups
- At the heart of every networking group are a few people who are making it happen. Make it a point to meet with them when you find a group that you want to be a part of. In fact, ask how you can help. I know a guy who did this thinking that they would have him help clean up afterwards. Instead, they asked him to speak at the next event. Getting to the leaders of a group isn't hard, and you'd be surprised at how few people do it. It's a great way to build real connections and support the people who are making it happen. Whether you end up cleaning up after or speaking to the group, you'll be well-served to offer to help.
