- My final thought, if you're looking to change your job or your whole career, is before you leave, just check for opportunities within the organization where you already are. It's much easier, because you know the organization, and of course, they know you. So there might well be something good within the organization that you can find. And if you've had experience of several areas within an organization, it makes you very employable to be moved up a level. Organizations like it if you're multi-skilled. So there are all sorts of ways that you can get into new parts of an organization. For example, with project management, you could just start small. You could just say, I'd like to help on this project. And then you could volunteer to help look after it when the manager's away. And before long, you could volunteer to help run it jointly.
