Organizational acumen
- Another key leadership skill is developing organizational acumen. That's the ability to accurately perceive and judge the formal and informal influences that shape your organization today and into the future. It's about correctly reading your context and making sound decisions based on what is really going on. Every organization has a level of subtext, the undercurrent of things that happen behind or underneath the daily machinations. Transparent organizations have a higher match between what is said and what is done, while others are a complex web of invisible factors. First, you'll want to identify who has power in the organization. Power comes in many forms and there are overlaps between them. Who in your organization holds the following kinds of power?
