Overcoming emotions

- When advocating for change within your organization, you're going to have difficult conversations, and they're going to be very difficult because of the emotional challenges that you're going to have to work through. Whenever you're talking about race, it triggers feelings of identity and disappointment as it relates to our perception of what the world is versus what the world should be. And a very simple tool that you can use to overcome these emotional challenges is called the compassionate curiosity framework. And it's a simple three part framework that helps you to overcome these emotional challenges and then transition into conversations that are more productive. The first step is acknowledging and validating emotions. The second step is getting curious with compassion, and the third step is joint problem solving.
