Principles of moving something you've planned offline to online
- It may be that you had an in person event in the diary that you've had to postpone and like many other organizations, you've decided to run it as an online event rather than just cancel it altogether. There's been an explosion in online events recently. I recommend that you attend a few and take notes about what works for you and what doesn't. I want to share a few principles that can be applied to any size of event from a small workshop to a massive conference. The first is return to your initial aims. What is it that you are hoping to achieve? What's the value that your attendees are expecting to get from the event? You need to take it back to its foundations and then work out how you can use online in the best way to deliver your goals.
