- Many times, marginalized professionals are I left feeling confused about their experiences with microaggressions. This is because many of the comments or actions are subtle yet subjective, which only makes recognizing them more challenging. Recognizing microaggressions for what it is, is an important first step in learning how to deal with them immediately. There is often a duality in the experience of microaggressions for people of different races, gender identifications, sexual orientation and ableism. An array of interactions can leave people feeling the offense is far too complex to address. The fear is generally that the offender will challenge that these experiences are too subjective to correct.
