- So there's one more strategy that we can use on the path to becoming indistractable. The final technique is all about reducing the likelihood of distraction. And to illustrate this point, I want to take you back 2500 years to the story of Ulysses written in Homer's Odyssey. Ulysses is this hero who has to sail his ship and crew past the Island of the Sirens. The Sirens are these mythical creatures that sing this song that anyone who hears crashes their ship onto the Sirens' island and dies. Now, Ulysses knows about this danger, but he plans ahead. He wants to hear the Sirens' song, but he knows what will happen if he hears it. So here's what he does. He enters into a pact with his crew and tells them to bind him to the mast of his ship and tells them no matter what I do, no matter what I say, don't let me go. And you know what? The plan works.
