- I was at a leadership conference recently and I perked up when the speaker said something I've been hearing my grandmother say my whole life, reward what you want to reinforce. And a simple way to reward your employees is through recognition. This requires a little intention, but you can easily wrap recognition into the communication you're already doing. Start by adding strengths recognition to your team meetings. While quarterly meetings are great to set the stage, team meetings are where employees will actually see what this looks like in terms of behaviors, actions and work. Talk about your team's super strength in action. How has the team been using this strength to get closer to your goals each week? Who has contributed in interesting ways? What stories can you share? Here's an idea I love, award a trophy to someone who supported the team's super strength that week. Then the next week that person would pass it on…
