- Here's something I do when my anxiety is starting to grow to a point that I'm not thinking straight. I take a step back, I stop everything I'm doing, and I try to look at my situation subjectively. That is to look at the logic behind everything like a robot would. I look at all of the internal and external factors and consider what I can and can't influence. Internal factors are things from inside you; your mindset, your mood, your knowledge and so on. Internal factors can always be influenced and we'll come to that in a minute. External factors are things from outside of you; the customer and their state of mind, your colleagues, your manager, the economy, the weather, and really, anything else that's outside of your mind. External factors can be influenced, but they require much more work and are not guaranteed. So when I sit down and I look at a problem I'm faced with, I write everything down that's blocking my path.…
