- It's amazing how often a blame game erupts when numbers change. Management accountants are considered to be the heroes of management when the numbers suit their needs, but they are also the first to be blamed when numbers change, especially when they change for the worse. Many years ago, I was preparing a business case for a large and complex IT system. Now, this work involved the preparation of a seven-year costing model. The business case was approved, but over time, things changed. Now, to those of you who are familiar with the principles of program and project management, you'll be all too familiar with the need to refresh decision-making documents such as costings and business cases throughout the initiative's lifecycle.
