- Too often, we set racism off to the side and treat it like some alien challenge that we're too afraid to tackle. But using some of your standard problem solving techniques can work surprisingly well. Just as you'd review key metrics for signs of health or opportunity for key areas of your business, an organization should regularly review key metrics that may provide indicators of potential discrimination or inequity. Once your organization has reviewed metrics and identified potential problem areas, it's critically important to begin problem solving to move beyond the obvious and really understand the core causes that we often can't see, much like the bottom of an iceberg. Root cause analysis can be particularly helpful, because too often, racism is addressed on the surface only, which leaves the root causes in place.
