- I remember the very first time I was working internationally, I was working in Singapore for a large financial services firm that was family owned. Now I've got to tell you, I was scared to death. Not only had I never worked internationally before, but working in a country like Singapore was so different than anything that I had ever been exposed to. Now, I knew the biggest way to get away from my fear was to do my homework, to do my research, to be prepared. So not only studied about the company, but I learned about the family and I learned about Singapore and right from our very first sales call, our very first meeting, the CEO was so impressed with not only my attempts to try to do some things that were culturally pleasing to residents of Singapore, but how much I had bothered to learn about his family and their passion for their business.
