- [Presenter] Once you've identified your new hires' biggest strengths and their 90-day onboarding vision, the second stage of the pivot method is scan. Just as with Google Maps, once you input your starting location and your destination, now you can brainstorm three things to get there or to help bridge that gap. People, skills and projects that will be most beneficial to reach your new hires 90-day or six month onboarding vision. Let's look at each of these three categories in more detail. First, people, can you assign your new hire a buddy? I call these friend tours. Peers at a similar level who can help them get to know your team culture and the organization more broadly. When I started at Google in 2006, two of my cube mates informally took me under their wing, inviting me to lunches and Friday afternoon outings.
