- Your communication plan is almost complete. We now figure out how to get your message from sender to receiver. What is the best channel? We begin our choice by exploring the richness of each communication media available to us. Richness is measured by whether or not a channel supports immediate feedback, provides verbal and nonverbal cues, and has a personal focus. So, how would you rank the following channels on richness? Phone, video conference, brochure, email, and face to face. Did your ranked list look something like this? Face to face meets all of the richness criteria. When we meet in person you get instant feedback, you can see and hear what I have to say, and it's innately personal because we're person to person. Video conferencing when the technology works well, has many of these same features.
