- Let's understand the generational playing field we're dealing with. While you may have folks from the silent generation on your team, born before 1946, 98% of today's workforce is made up of four generations. Baby Boomers like me, born 1946 to 1964 make up about 25% of the U.S. workforce. Boomers are very career-focused which may explain, in part, why so many of them have no intention of retiring. Their value lies in the experience, business connections, and wisdom they've built up over three or four decades on the job. The cliche of the tech-challenged Boomer is largely inaccurate.
