- I like to send people a set of rules and expectations for my workshops, in advance, and then I reiterate them when we actually start the session. Here are some of the things that I like to cover. There's no hierarchy here and no judgment. If you have people from different levels of seniority, it can cause politics in a session and make some of the more junior people afraid to say anything stupid. So make it clear that everyone is on the same level or if you want to make the point stronger, reverse the hierarchy so that the most senior people are the least important. Maybe you just use them as note takers. Then when you start the session, take the time to show people how to use the technology. Show people where the chat area is and point to any other functionality that you're going to be using. And also as another tech check, make sure that they've got the shared document open.
