- We met Bernette, who is neurodivergent, in the last video. They described how social strains can be very taxing for individuals. They mentioned small talk and how it doesn't seem to make sense to them saying, "Small talk is about exchanging emotion, not information," so it's hard for them to engage in it. So given this is how neurodivergent workers often experience social situations, what can you do to better educate managers? It all comes down to not judging a book by its cover and working on not being judgy. There is more going on than you can see. As an HR rep you can start by educating managers on how social interactions can affect neurodivergent employees. It might be helpful to teach managers about something called impression management.
