- Successful executives get really good at being curious. They have to, you don't want to be the smartest person in the room. You need smarter people giving you real feedback, good answers to hard questions, and you have to let the answers collectively inform the problem. This takes patience. As Einstein quipped, "If I had an hour to solve a problem, I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem." Genuine curiosity requires vulnerability. You can't hold tightly to an answer when you get curious. You can't control the outcome when you start asking honest questions. Being curious requires you to ask with an open mind and an open hand.
