- Do you ever notice that after about an hour or so, you start to feel fidgety and your eyes start to glaze over when looking at your computer screen? Our bodies need to move. They say that sitting is the new smoking. The reality is, if you can implement stretch breaks throughout your day, you'll be ahead of the game. Here are a few best practices for improving flexibility, feeling refreshed and more productive while working. First, if you tend to notice what time it is, then you can simply take a five-minute stretch break on the hour. On the other hand, if you're one that tends to lose track of time, put it in your schedule that each hour, you'll take a five-minute break. This way, it's in your schedule and you won't forget. Next, if you're sitting, then stand up when you stretch. If you're already at a standup desk, you could even sit down and do some of the stretches recommended by Desk Yogi.
