Three categories of job market basics

- There are three kinds of job market basics you should be familiar with as a leader. First are fundamental truths. There are those that apply to you as a leader and your career, there are those that apply to your teams and how you might think about hiring and staffing projects up in order to get work done. And of course, there are fundamental truths that apply to both you as a leader and your teams. The second important job market basic you should be familiar with includes financial considerations. This includes the relationship between what you might have to pay for people related to their education level and how that impacts, also, the unemployment rate and their hireability. There's also an impact here on planning around budget season and how that can impact your ability to staff up for work you need done. The third area for important job basic consideration is planning in uncertain times. This includes how to respond to hiring freezes or if you have to face layoffs as well as other challenges, like how the job market tracks the economy. Together, these three kinds of job market basics will help you be a more effective leader when it comes to job market topics.
