- My entry into the corporate world started with an intense management training program. Trainees spent the first weeks in the classroom, but the bulk of the training was in the field rotating rapidly through sales management, product development, and where I would ultimately end up, merchandising and buying. We all became good friends. We worked like dogs, meeting after work, sharing and comparing experiences. I had gotten lucky. During my field assignments, I got consistent recognition from outstanding managers. Like me, a few trainees received consistent recognition during their field assignments for good work and for areas needing improvement. Several trainees only received negative recognition, but most trainees received no recognition during their field assignments. Zero. Managers were busy and we were just trainees. The last week of training was back in the classroom. The last day was rewards and recognition.…
