Tips for managing multiple time zones

- In global teams, working across time zones is an unavoidable reality. Time zones are not going to go away, so we need techniques for minimizing the impact or managing across them. First, there's no excuse for not being aware of what time zones your colleagues are in. Most smartphones now have a world clock option to remind you, and there are many websites that specialize in identifying the best time to schedule a call between multiple locations. It's frankly rude to call a colleague at home in the evening and breezily say good morning. Second, organize your work across time zones more intentionally. Think of your activity as a relay race, where you hand over work from one time zone to the next convenient one, rather than a rowing team where everyone needs to be in the same boat at the same time.
