- Let me tell you about one of my favorite slash not so favorite travel to a conference horror stories. I had a very small window to fly across the country from California to Washington DC. Give a presentation and get back to California within 24 hours. I was threading the needle with this one. And spoiler alert, it did not work out as planned. My flight got delayed several times. We got diverted to a different airport 90 minutes away, a fight broke out on the plane which caused even more delays after we landed, I got dropped off at the wrong hotel and I had to lug my suitcase around downtown Washington, DC at 3:00 AM. When I finally got settled, I clocked a two hour cat nap and I have to tell you, I was not exactly bright eyed and bushy tailed for my presentation. It was a rough time.
