- Time is your most precious resource, so please realize that all decisions are not created equal. When you have to make a decision, ask yourself whether you really need to think through the issue, or can you just use your gut and make the call quickly? There are two common decision-making mistakes and they can happen whether you're trying to figure out who to hire, with whom to partner, or even which direction to go strategically. The first mistake is over-relying on intuition. Intuition can be really fast, but just relying on your gut feeling can also be dangerous. It all comes down to how new the situation is. The more novel the situation, the less likely intuition is helpful. Intuition is fast, but used too much, it can be ineffective.
