Understanding inbound logistics

- An airplane is one of the most complicated machines in the world. And making a plane is one of the most complex processes you can imagine. But companies like Airbus and Boeing don't actually make an airplane. They assemble the plane from millions of different parts made by many other companies. Most people don't realize how much effort it takes to deliver all those parts and components and materials to the workshops so that those airplanes can be assembled. This is called inbound logistics. It's all the activities that get the right stuff into the factory or assembly plant at the right time so you can make the final product for your customer. Think about it, Airbus has a lot of stuff going into the factory and only one thing coming out, the airplane. This means they are heavy in inbound logistics.
