Update your productivity style

- I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Being your most productive depends on one thing and one thing only, you. That's right, this begins with your own personal productivity style, learning what it is and using it to your advantage. It's something I talk about in my book, "Listful Living," and my other LinkedIn Learning course The Power of Lists to Get Stuff Done. The short version is this. Your personal productivity style is made up of a few factors all about you. What time of day do you work best? What does your ideal work environment look like? And what days of the week are you most efficient? Once you know these things about yourself, it's easier to set up your schedule. However, now we're throwing in an obstacle, hybrid working. This means your ideal setup might not be obvious from the beginning. What works on the office might not work at home and vice versa. It will take you a little time working in both worlds to set up the best situation for you. But take this time now, before you start your hybrid work set-up to do a little organizing. Take these things into consideration. One, what days will your family or roommates be at home? Two, when will your colleagues be in the office? Three, what about your other life commitments? When do they happen and where? And four, you'll want to remember if the landscapers come on Tuesdays or on Wednesdays. It makes a difference for your video calls. I know you know what I'm talking about. In the exercise file, you'll find a chart that you can print out and start plugging in your ideal hybrid work schedule. Taking into account your lifestyle and how you work best, what would the ideal schedule look like? Remember, taking control of your schedule whenever possible will make you feel more empowered and give you time to relax and recharge, as well.
