- (Narrator) If you're an innovation manager, I'm willing to bet that you can't tell me the value of your own innovation, ignoring of course the formality of missing a few nondisclosure agreements. Now I admit, that's a fairly bold statement, but in my experience around the globe, coaching hundreds of clients in almost every industry, top designers and engineers exhibit this trait again and again. It's surprising, but understandable. And it's not a failing. It's a reflection on human nature. We each look at the world through our own experiences, which give us individual and highly variable scales of good and bad. But when we work on the design of any system for broader consumption, we agree to conform to a set of system specifications that has an implied value, usually limited to material, manufacturing and resource costs.
