What constitutes feedback?

- As a competitive athlete, I learned early on that feedback was absolutely essential for me to improve and excel. My father was a coach and he was great at giving me constructive criticism to improve my performance. When I was off course, he'd guide me by offering his experience, expertise and perspective. He knew I needed feedback to achieve my goals as an athlete. Whether your goals are personal or professional mastering the art of giving and receiving feedback is one of the most effective ways to achieve them. In this lesson, I'll share with you what the term feedback actually means and describe some of its key components. Feedback is everything. Everything you do and don't do, say and don't say, how you say it, it's all communicating something, who you calling in a meeting, who's one and one you keep having to cancel, what you choose to comment on, what you choose to ignore, all feedback.
